<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Colorectal cancer ranks third after breast cancer in terms of incidence and second after lung cancer in terms of mortality.</p><p>Management of rectal cancer requires a multidisciplinary approach, with the surgical management playing the main role. Treatment of such patients may be associated with poorer outcomes after both open and minimally invasive surgery.</p><p>This article reviews the current state of advances in minimally invasive surgery for rectal cancer in general and in elderly patients in particular.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>миниинвазивные технологии</kwd><kwd>рак прямой кишки</kwd><kwd>колоректальный рак</kwd><kwd>лапароскопическая хирургия</kwd><kwd>роботизированная хирургия</kwd><kwd>трансанальная малоинвазивная хирургия</kwd><kwd>пожилой возраст</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>minimally invasive surgery</kwd><kwd>rectal cancer</kwd><kwd>colorectal cancer</kwd><kwd>laparoscopic surgery</kwd><kwd>robotic surgery</kwd><kwd>transanal minimally invasive surgery</kwd><kwd>elderly patients</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Бакасов И. А.
